Cartography 2.0 - A History of Animated Maps
The ground-breaking, all-digital animation Road to Point Reyes produced by Lucasfilm in 1983. While there were a number of important breakthroughs in the 1980s in computer-based animation (and seen by its appearance in major motion pictures), distribution of animated maps was still a problem in that users had to “go to the content” it didn’t “come to them” (on-demand).
